MUSIC&LIFE: saved by the grace of your love

"Saved By The Grace of Your Love" is such an amazing song with such a true pure message. When I listen to it, I think of those people and animals that have come into my life and changed everything. There have been many souls that have crossed my path and so many of them have shown me unconditional love, care and support. Everyone needs to feel loved, worthy and given that motivation to make the most of their lives.

I believe that the events and people in your life, whether they be good or bad, can effect your life in a positive way. We all take our experiences and learn from them. Just remember, if you feel bad or are having a hard time - it will teach you something, propel you into a new direction and/or change your perspective. Bad things do happen to good people and I feel that it’s just an opportunity to learn....even if it feels really really crappy.

This song was also performed by the Sons of Champlin on their "Loving is Why" album. The version I’m posting is performed by Mike Finningan, soul singer extraordinaire! I had the honor of meeting him at The Phantom Blues Band show in Las Vegas this past year. I was turned into a forever fan the first time Dawayne played his music for me. This song is a classic and it will forever mean something to me.

Saved By The Grace of Your Love
(William D. Smith & David Palmer)

I’ve been saved by the grace of your love
Hallelujah to what’s ever above
I’ve been raised by the grace of your love
Oh, praise ye to the power of love

Don’t need no witness on the witness stand
Don’t need no system, ain’t no gamblin’ man
I got something that beats the bird in hand
It’s your lovin’ that brings me luck

Don’t need no singer with no sad, sad song
Don’t want to hear my man get the words wrong
I got something to build my life upon
And let me tell you that’s enough

(chorus)

I used to live so badly
It was the only way I knew
I gave a million excuses
The way that lonely people do

One day I came to my senses
I knew where I was headed to you
I made up my mind, I changed my habits in time
And yes I owe the change to you

Sing hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah
I’ve seen it face to face

(chorus)

Miles in Lucky Dog Magazine Jan/Feb 08

With the help of my critter sitter friend, Lisa, I was introduced to Michelle, the wonderful Publisher/Editor-in-Chief behind Lucky Dog Magazine. She was touched by Miles' story so much that she asked to add my notecards in their Bark section.

I don't have words for the joy I have in my heart. Of course, it's laced with sadness because I miss my boy SO much. He changed my life forever and his death has shown me how beautiful and gracious people can be. Lisa and Michelle have gone beyond caring and I can't thank them enough.

I finally got a copy of the actual magazine the other day and seeing the piece they put together for Miles brought me to tears. I am so honored that he was included in their publication.

You can see the entire Lucky Dog Magazine online at www.luckydogmag.com
Click on "Inside Lucky Dog Magazine" and view the January/February 2008 issue. Miles is on page 18.

MUSIC&LIFE: love is the answer

People say songs are the sountrack of our lives. I see so many beings, human and animal, on the planet everyday who fight to live...struggle to make it...who are scared...alone...homeless...unloved...those who have high hopes...those with no hope...who are ill...who are well...who have much...and who have nothing...

One of my favorite songs of all time, gives such a great message of hope and banding together as Urthlings - human and animal! It's called "Love is the Answer" by England Dan and John Ford Coley.

Now, before the 'geekometer' goes into overdrive...just listen and read the lyrics. It's simple, pure and true. Written by legendary artist, Todd Rundgren, this song is an uplifting message to the world!

**Believe in the power of positive thoughts!**

Love is the Answer
Lyrics written by Todd Rundgren

Name your price
A ticket to paradise
I can't stay here any more
And I've looked high and low
I've been from shore, to shore, to shore
If there's a short cut I'd have found it
But there is no easy way around it

Light of the world, shine on me
Love is the answer
Shine on us all
Set us free
Love is the answer

Who knows why
Someday we all must die
We're all homeless boys and girls
And we are never heard
It's such a lonely, lonely, lonely world
People turn their heads
And walk on by
Tell me is it worth just another try

Light of the world, shine on me
Love is the answer
Shine on us all
Set us free
Love is the answer

Tell me, are we alive
Or just a dying planet
(What are the chances)

Ask the man in your heart
For the answer

And when you feel afraid
(Love one another)
When you've lost your way
(Love one another)
And when you're all alone
(Love one another)
And when you're far from home
(Love one another)
And when you're down and out
(Love one another)
And when your hopes run out
(Love one another)
And when you need a friend
(Love one another)
And when you're near the end
(Love)
(We've got to love)
(We've got to love one another)

Light of the world, shine on me
Love is the answer
Shine on us all
Set us free
Love is the answer

Light of the world, shine on me
Love is the answer
Shine on us all
Set us free
Love is the answer...
